Vientiane, Laos PDR

City of Vientiane, Laos PDR
 (People's Democratic Republic)
14th January to 18th January 2014 [golfing]
Vientiane is the capital and largest city of Laos, situated on the Mekong River near the border with Thailand. Vientiane became the capital in 1563 due to fears of a Burmese invasion. Vientiane was the administrative capital during French rule and, due to economic growth in recent times, is now the economic centre of Laos. The estimated population of the city is 754,000 (2009). The city hosted the 25th Southeast Asian Games in December 2009 celebrating the 50 years of SEA Games.
We went to Vientiane (the 2nd time) to enjoy the golfing offered to golfers. It is a trip worth going : if you are golfing; however if you are looking for places to shop, there are not as many (there are no big malls) except for the "Pasar Malam" that opens every night by the Mekong River.
This time around, we played at Dansavanh Golf Club, Sea Games Golf Club; Lao Country Club; and twice at Long Thanh (Long Vien) Golf Resort [within a big US$1.0 billion project owned by the Vietnamese]. They are even right now building the 2nd 18th at Long Thanh (Long Vien) Golf Resort. These are the photos taken along the trip; the 5 golf games have a Blog of its own ::: www.cergolf.blogspot.com :::
